Western Cape Climbing Undeprivileged Climber Programme

4th November 2015

Western Cape Climbing is committed to developing the sport of climbing.

 We are currently running several Outreach climbing programmes.

As part of these, any Western Cape Climbing Club that has members from disadvantaged backgrounds may submit an application to the Western Cape Climbing Secretary to request relief from payment of Membership Fees for qualifying individuals as laid out below:

Western Cape Climbing, being a Non-Profit Organisation, has allocated 10% of our overall annual Membership Numbers towards Underprivileged or Disadvantaged Members.

This means that up to 10% of our members will not be required to pay their Annual Membership Fee to Western Cape Climbing provided that Western Cape Climbing accepts their application as an Underprivileged or Disadvantaged person.

The application for each member from a Western Cape Climbing Club must include:

·         A completed Western Cape Climbing Individual Membership Application Form

·         A digital colour photograph of the Member

·         An accompanying letter addressed to Western Cape Climbing outlining:

o   The current domestic and housing situation of the member

o   The current combined household income

{NSFAS (National Student Financial Aid Scheme) for who gets funding help for studies is R120k per year as a household income figure, equating to R10k/month.}

o   Whether or not the member has parents or other family members

o   Whether or not the member is staying with the above mentioned parents or other family members

o   Where the member currently attends school or work

o   Details of any  disability  – please supply supporting documentation from a medical practitioner/hospital

The application will be reviewed by the Western Cape Climbing Executive Committee.

Applicants will not have to reapply each year, provided that the member is an active climber and member of the Western Cape Climbing Club who applies on their behalf.
