WESTERN CAPE CLIMBING CLUB COLOURS AWARDS POLICY

 

ALL AWARDS ARE TO BE MADE AT THE DISCRETION OF THE AWARDS COMMITTEE FROM EACH CLUB

 

 

 

AWARDS COMMITTEE

 

·         The Committee will consist of:

o   Club President

o   Club Vice-President

o   Club Head of Coaching

o   Club Coaches

 

 

PRESENTATION OF AWARDS

 

·         Awards to be presented on the following occasions:

o   Annual Awards Evening held before the end of the School Term 4

 

 

MEETINGS

 

·         Meetings are held at a time convenient to those concerned. They are called at least once a term. The records of minutes of all meetings must be available.

 

 

GENERAL GUIDELINES

 

·         The criteria must be observed at all times unless there is a policy change as a result of a decision taken by consensus at a full meeting.

·         Prospective awards are to be motivated in writing by the Coach in charge of the relevant climber to the Awards Committee. All awards will be decided at a meeting of the Awards Committee.

·         A climber will only receive an award if they meets one of the following criteria:

·         Climbing is offered by the club and the pupil participates at club team level

·         Climbing is offered at an inter-school level

·         A climber must be a good role model and display qualities of good sportsmanship, and show both commitment and enthusiasm. Awards will only be considered for a climber whose support and behaviour have been exemplary and a credit to their club.

·         Awards may be withdrawn if subsequent behaviour brings discredit to the club, or is deemed to be socially unacceptable. Decisions of this nature will be made by the Awards Committee on representation from the management of the club.

·         Awards will only be given once the climber has qualified / been selected and participated, with written notification from the coach training that climber.

·         Honours, Full Colours and Half Colours are awarded to climbers in Performance and Intermediate Levels only. Junior Colours and Junior Merit Awards are awarded to climbers in Beginner 2 and Beginner 1 Levels.

·         A climber must have sustained involvement and participation in climbing that qualified them for the award and in order for them to retain the award.

·         All Awards criteria can be revised and updated regularly by the Awards Committee.

·         Minutes of the Awards meetings will be recorded.

·         The Awards Committee reserves the right to decide and assess motivations for prospective awards that are outside the ambit of this awards policy.

·         The Awards Committee reserves the right to apply the general principles set out in this document i.e.

·         That representing South Africa will be awarded with Honours.

·         That representing the Province will be awarded with Full Colours.

 

 

 

AWARDS FOR CLIMBING – SPORT AND BOULDERING

 

·         HONOURS:

o   South African Representation in Sport Climbing

·         COLOURS:

o   Selection for Provincial sport climbing team for U17, Junior and Open Age categories

·         HALF COLOURS:

o   Achieving 1st place in Inter-Club Bouldering or Sport Climbing Competition in Performance or Intermediate Levels

·         MERIT CERTIFICATE:

o   Achieving 1st place in Inter-Club Bouldering or Sport Climbing Competition in Beginner 2 and Beginner 1 Levels

·         JUNIOR COLOURS:

o   Selection for Provincial sport climbing team for U15 and U13 Age categories

·         CERTIFICATE OF ACHIEVEMENT:

o   Advancing more than four climbing grades in a single year whether in bouldering or sport climbing

Certificates of Achievement

To be given with a Trophy. Certificate with ACHIEVEMENT AWARD & Bouldering/Sport Climbing to be typed onto it.

 

 

Junior Colours

Certificate with JUNIOR COLOURS & Bouldering/Sport Climbing typed onto it.

 

 

Re-awards

Certificate with FULL / HALF COLOURS OR HONOURS RE-AWARD typed onto it.

 

 

Half-Colours

Certificate with HALF-COLOURS & Bouldering/Sport Climbing typed onto it. Half-Colours Club Badge on Pocket of Blazer. Blazer colour to be determined by the Club Awards Committee.

 

 

Colours

Certificate with COLOURS & Bouldering/Sport Climbing typed onto it. Colours Club Badge on Pocket of Blazer. Blazer colour to be determined by the Club Awards Committee.

 

 

Honours

Certificate with HONOURS & Bouldering/Sport Climbing typed onto it. Honours Club Badge on Pocket of Blazer. Blazer colour to be determined by the Club Awards Committee.
